CertainTeed Master Craftsman Roofing in Missouri

As a CertainTeed Master Craftsman roofer in Missouri, Robin Davidson has passed CertainTeed's test on its Shingle Applicator's Manual. That manual covers flashing, ventilation, complete roof systems, estimating, and installation requirements for every CertainTeed shingle.

That matters before a crew ever gets on your roof. The person scoping the job knows what CertainTeed expects around the details that can make or break an installation, from attic ventilation and valleys to flashing at walls, chimneys, and roof penetrations.

SRA Roofing & Gutters installs CertainTeed roofs through SRA Roofing & Gutters and Luecke's Roofing. You get a local company to install the roof, plus someone on the SRA team who has studied and passed CertainTeed's own installation exam.

“I had a fantastic experience with the roof company, thanks to the exceptional service provided by their agent, Robin. From the initial consultation to the final inspection, Robin was incredibly knowledgeable, responsive, and attentive to my needs.”

— Andy C.

A Credential Earned by a Person, Not a Company

The CertainTeed Master Craftsman Roofing Contractor credential is an individual certification that CertainTeed awards to people who pass its exam on the Shingle Applicator's Manual, the company's guide to installing its shingles correctly.

Most roofing certifications belong to a company. This one belongs to a person. Robin earned it himself, and his certificate is valid through February 24, 2028.

According to CertainTeed, the Master Craftsman program teaches good workmanship practices and complete roof systems, flashing at walls, chimneys, valleys, and penetrations, ventilation so the attic breathes the way the shingles need, estimating so the scope matches the roof, and installation instructions for every CertainTeed shingle product.

It's also a building block. CertainTeed requires Master Craftsman-credentialed people for its company-level ShingleMaster, ShingleMaster PRO, and ShingleMaster PREMIER programs.

CertainTeed is one of several of SRA's manufacturer certifications. This is the only one earned by an individual.

Why the Person Scoping Your Roof Matters

Most bad roofs aren't bad because of the shingle. They go wrong earlier, when the scope misses something.

The estimate might skip replacing the step flashing, ignore an underventilated attic, or leave out a valley detail the shingle maker requires.

Those are the exact topics the Master Craftsman exam covers. When the person looking at your roof has studied CertainTeed's installation manual, your estimate is more likely to include what the shingles need, not just what's easy to price.

That doesn't replace good crews. It means the plan they work from starts out right.

“Robin was very professional and detailed. The crew worked fast and knew what they were doing in team fashion.”

What a Master Craftsman Credential Does and Doesn't Unlock

An individual Master Craftsman credential doesn't, by itself, unlock CertainTeed's extended warranties. CertainTeed ties its extended SureStart PLUS coverage to a company's contractor level, not to one person's certificate.

CertainTeed's current company levels are ShingleMaster, ShingleMaster PRO, and ShingleMaster PREMIER. If you've seen "SELECT ShingleMaster" on older roofing sites, that name was replaced when CertainTeed reorganized its program in 2026.

SRA Roofing & Gutters and Luecke's each back their roofs with a 5-year workmanship warranty. Annual inspections are required to maintain coverage.

How to Check a CertainTeed Credential

CertainTeed's Find a Pro tool lists credentialed contractors by area. Two questions help you read what you find:

  • Is it a person or a company credential? A Master Craftsman is a person. ShingleMaster, PRO, and PREMIER are companies.
  • Which SureStart PLUS tier is on my estimate? The tier, not the logo, decides your coverage.

How Your CertainTeed Roof Comes Together

  • Your roof gets inspected and documented. A free inspection gives you photos and a written report on the shingles, flashing, and attic ventilation, which are the details the Master Craftsman manual focuses on.
  • The scope follows CertainTeed's manual. Your estimate lists the shingle, the underlayment, the flashing to be replaced, and any ventilation changes.
  • You choose the shingle and see the warranty by name. Your estimate shows which CertainTeed products and warranty apply before you make your decision.
  • The crew installs to CertainTeed's instructions. The work follows the same installation standards as the credential tests.
  • Your warranty gets registered, and the paperwork comes to you.

“I was very impressed with Robin and his communication with getting our roof replaced. He was very helpful every step of the way. The install crew kept a clean work area and did a nice job.”
