Five Certifications, Five Different Jobs
A roofing manufacturer certification is a status a shingle or skylight maker gives a contractor or installer, which authorizes it to offer that manufacturer's enhanced warranties or confirms training on its installation methods.
Many roofing sites skip this part: certifications aren't interchangeable. Some extend coverage on materials, some add coverage on the installation, and one is held by a single person.

Which Certification Matters for Your Roof
The right certification depends on what you're trying to protect against.
You want the installation covered by the manufacturer, long-term. Owens Corning Platinum Protection has the longest manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage SRA can offer. GAF Silver Pledge is the next option, at 10 to 15 years.
You're choosing mainly on shingle and price. IKO's extended Iron Clad Protection lengthens the shingle coverage, with the term set by the shingle you pick. For the installation, SRA's own warranty applies (below).
You have or want a skylight. The VELUX warranty is what covers that opening in your roof. Shingle warranties generally exclude flashing the shingle maker didn't make.
You might sell in the next few years. Transfer rules differ a lot by manufacturer. Check the certification page for your brand before you choose.
What no certification covers: Hail and storm damage. That's a homeowners insurance matter. SRA can inspect your roof and give you photos and a written damage report to use with your insurer, and you stay in charge of your own claim.
SRA's 5-Year Workmanship Warranty
Manufacturer warranties come from the manufacturer. SRA's workmanship warranty comes from SRA. SRA Roofing & Gutters and Luecke's Roofing each cover the installation work on their new roofs with a 5-year workmanship warranty.
It's separate from every manufacturer warranty on this page, so a qualifying roof can carry both. On an IKO roof, it's the coverage for the installation, since IKO's warranty excludes installation errors.
One condition: annual inspections are required to maintain coverage. Each inspection also gives you a dated record of your roof's condition.

The SRA Advantage: Free Roof Documentation, For Life
The SRA Advantage gives you up to two documented roof inspections a year, free for life, for as long as you own your home.
Each visit documents your roof's actual condition — shingles, flashing, ventilation, gutters, and drainage — with photos and a written report in plain language. If everything looks good, you'll hear that. If something's starting, you'll know before it turns into a leak or an insurance claim you can't prove.
Each visit gives you a dated record of your roof's condition before and after any weather event, and one inspection a year keeps SRA's 5-year workmanship warranty active. In the Ozarks, where freeze-thaw cycles, hail, and humidity age roofs faster than the warranty suggests, that documentation matters.
How to Check Any Roofer's Certification
This works for any roofer, including us.
- Look them up on the manufacturer's site, not the roofer's. Each brand has its own tool: Owens Corning's contractor locator, GAF's verification tool, IKO's Find a Contractor, CertainTeed's Find a Pro, and VELUX's installer locator.
- Check whether the credential belongs to a company or a person. Company tiers unlock warranties. Individual credentials, like CertainTeed Master Craftsman, confirm training.
- Get the warranty named on your estimate. "Manufacturer warranty" could mean the basic coverage that comes with any shingle. Platinum Protection, Silver Pledge, and extended Iron Clad Protection each mean something specific.
- Ask what the system requires. Most enhanced warranties need the manufacturer's accessories installed with the shingles. Your estimate should list them.
- Ask who registers the warranty and when you'll get the certificate. Enhanced warranties are registered by the contractor, often within a set window after the install.
- Ask what isn't covered. Workmanship, flashing, hail, and transfer limits vary by brand.
After a big storm, be wary of any roofer who names a warranty but can't show you the certificate or the locator listing.

What Happens When You Call
- A free inspection documents your roof first. You get photos and a written report of its condition before anyone recommends a brand.
- You ask to compare brands. Your estimate then names the manufacturer, the shingle, the warranty tier, and the components each one requires, side by side. Unless you ask for an upgrade, a roof carries the manufacturer's standard warranty.
- You keep one file. The inspection report, estimate, and warranty certificate go together. That's what you'll want if you ever file a claim or sell the home.
